A day at the ballpark

I had an interesting day yesterday. While the new guy and I was out having lunch, he mentioned that he was going to a baseball game. He said the he would've invited me if I didn't hate baseball. But...I don't hate baseball, I just don't enjoy watching it on television. Shocked to hear this news, he told me that he will try to get an extra ticket so that I could attend the game. I was to join him and best female friend (BFF) of 20 years. Yeah. I was a bit nervous meeting his best friend because I KNOW that her opinion of me could sway the relationship. If she hates me, it is over; if she likes me, I am good. I didn't want to be phony, because I think she would have seen right through that, so I just decided to be myself ... so that meant I was relatively mute for the first few minutes. She was really nice so I began to warm up to her and be more talkative. When meeting new people in a group setting, I just like to hang back and listen to gain a better understanding of them. Watching the interaction between the new guy and his BFF showed me how similar they. So if he likes me, then (logically) she could like me as well. He left us alone ... and at that moment we had one those awkward silences that newly introduced people have before we began striking up a conversation. This lasted for a few more minutes until he head out to the ball park.

The home of the Texas Rangers is in Arlington, which is approximately 30 minutes west of Dallas. Almost right next door to the stadium is Six Flags over Texas. I find it odd that they are so close together. Anyway ... while at the stadium we got some talked, we ate, we laughed, and had a good time. In the 7th inning they had something calls "Kiss Vision" on the jumbo screen. When I couple is shown on the screen they have to kiss, or else be booed by the fans. The new guy looked at me and said, "Are you ready?" Even if I were game, I doubt he would have the balls to kiss me at a baseball game ... in Texas ... with a bunch of drunk spectators lurking behind us. So, I wasn't worried. The Oakland A's had the game wrapped up so we headed out at the top of the 9th. During the car ride back we all talked and had a good time. When we got back to his apartment the BFF came in briefly to say goodbye. She gave him a hug and a kiss and she turned to me ... and gave me a hug?!?! I was totally caught by surprise. I was expecting a handshake. So I guess this mean ... she likes me? I know there will be a phone call between him and her to go over the details of the day and give him her verdict regarding me.

Hopefully, she approves.
