Rainy Days and Mondays
Hey y'all!
It is Monday again, and it is back to work after at a (what is seems to have been) very short weekend. It is good to be back at work. No, I am not drunk. I just like the work week because it puts me back into my routine. After a very full weekend, its to get back to some normalcy.
This past weekend was the Texas Cup and my group, OLTA, was hosting the event for the tennis clubs from Austin and Houston. Saturday morning, I ended up losing my match to the really good player from Houston ... he was a nice guy. We talked during the change overs and after he soundly beat me (6-1, 6-2) we ran into each other and engaged in a bit of small talk. After my match, I hung around to cheer my team on until about 2pm (I got there at 8am) then I was off to get a meatball sandwich from PotBelly's. I went home, devoured my sandwich and ended up falling asleep for 2 hours. I woke up around 5pm to get ready for our dinner at the Radisson Hotel. I was supposed to be there at 6:15pm, but gaining the lack of punctuality gene from my momma, I didn't get there until 6:30pm. The Austin and Houston teams weren't arriving until 7pm, but I was still late.
I got there an the OLTA team was finishing prepping the banquet room. The VP of the group brought his XBOX 360 to the hotel and we all played Top Spin 2, because we can't get enough tennis. The other teams arrived the room began to fill up fast. I ended up socializing with members of my own group because I can't bring myself to talk to new people with out feeling out of sorts. The Houston guy who beat me found me again, and we briefly exchanged pleasantries before he made his way to the buffet. I ended up talking to fellow OLTA member Francisco and his partner David. (There are about 15 David's in our group of 50 member. It made me think of these Kids in the Hall skits about gay men being named David:
... anyway)
They are two really nice guys. David is originally from Arkansas with these pale blue eyes that creepily-beautiful. I find myself just staring at his eyes when we talk to one another. His partner Francisco is originally from Monterrey, Mexico and he has been in Dallas for about 15 years. They met each other six years ago (in typical gay fashion) at the gym, and been they have been together ever since. They were really nice to meet and we spent the night conversing along with some other people. The night ended, and before they left they extended an invitation to me to visit them in their apartment the next day. We exchanged numbers and we said our good nights.
Sunday we all met up and played a couple of games of tennis, and then cheered on our team in the final day of competition. We came in 3rd place but we won 17 matches, which is a vast improvement of the 2 we won last year. After the trophy ceremony Francisco and David, another David, and two other guys went out for lunch at Cafe Express. After lunch Francisco invited us over to partake in their hot tub and sauna at their condo. I declined because I was tired ... and have issues with removing my shirt in front of strangers cause I got body issues. What? When I am 20 lbs lighter this July 1st will be more willing to take it off for strangers. We said goodbye and I headed home. When I got home I stretched, showered and watched the Robot Chicken DVD I got from Netflix for about 10 minutes before falling asleep for 2 hours. Why am I napping? I feel like I am getting old, but I enjoyed my nap and still was able to get to bed at a reasonable hour.
Today at work was pretty much normal. Except for the email smack down I had to give a co-worker because I was doing my job. He was insisting that I was doing something wrong, but I was doing things exactly how we discussed in a meeting a fee months ago and what the instructions stated. He felt the need to chastise me in an email (which was CCed to my supervisor), and I was not having that. I spoke to my supervisor and he agreed upon my method of doing things, so I emailed the co-worker him with the instructions that he created and showed that I was following the documentation.
He emailed me AGAIN saying that I was doing something wrong, even though the supervisor sent out an email to all of the team clarify the issue at hand. I didn't CC the supervisor on my first reply, but I did on the second because his insinuation that I didn't know how to do my job kind of pissed me off. I told him that I have doing this particular process that same way since its implementation.
The co-worker is a nice guy, but don't tell me I don't know how to do my job. And what really crossed the line for me is that he CCed the email to the supervisor trying to expose my alleged incompetence. He really shouldn't have done that ... ESPECIALLY when he isn't that good at his job. He maybe letting his tiny promotion get to his head. The only reason he got promoted is because he has been there longer than I have (management's words, not mine). Ugh ... I hope he ends this behavior or else it will be a face-to-face verbal smack down.
Hope your Monday went well!
