Back To Work
I am back at the office today, and it has been a slow day. I enjoyed by day off yesterday but I was constantly checking my work email just in case something went wrong. While home I got to see a Maury paternity test show. I love these shows. There was a woman who brought 9 guys to the show previously but NONE where the father. She brought number 10 to the show and said that she is claimed to be 100% sure.
This was followed by the lady making a mad dash through the studio before collapsing into a blubbering mess. I love schadenfreude.
Anyway ...
This past Saturday I went to a friend house for a BBQ. I thought it was going to be just 4 people, but 10 showed up. I nervous about meeting the friends of my friend but they were very cool and welcoming, so it good. We ate, talked and got on really well. But there was this one woman at the end of the night who wanted to try to levitate someone. I seriously thought she was kidding, but I was wrong. This would have been cute if she were 15 and we were having a slumber party. This chick was 45 and wanted to play "light as a feather, stiff as a board". We humored her and she got pissed off at us for not trying hard enough. We all laughed at/with her. I finally stumbled home around 1am (I don't drink, I was just tired) and promptly went to sleep.
Oh, also during the party my preference not to hug people as a greeting was questioned. I think mostly I am from the Northeast but I think down inside I am a germaphobe. Since I moved down to Texas I have been more willing to give handshakes and hugs but it is still a struggle. Maybe it stems from my friend (who shall remain nameless) dissing me when I wanted to hold hands during our triumphant victory at the Amazing Library Race*. It is all your fault. I hope you can live with yourself. :)
This Saturday I am going to the birthday party of an OLTA member. I should be fun. The birthday boy is turning 30 and hates that he is no longer in his 20s. I wondering if he will start to look at me differently because I still am?
[* - The Amazing Library Race was a scavenger hunt through the libraries on the University at Buffalo North Campus based on the CBS game show The Amazing Race.]
Maury: I have the results. The test shows that [the potential daddy] ...
Lady (interrupting): YOU ARE THE FATHER!!
Maury: ...you are NOT the father!
