I WAS IN A CAR ACCIDENT!!!

It was a weird couple of days in reference to my car.

Tuesday: My car received a long scratch on the passenger side.
Wednesday: At lunch with my co-workers, we began talking about how many car accident we have been in. I announced that I never had an accident and never had a traffic ticket. Eerie foreshadowing?
Thurday: An hour before the accident, I checked my collision deductible because I couldn't remember if it was $200 or $500. It was $500.

The accident: I hit this Nissan, and this Honda hit me from behind. It was THE WORST THREESOME EVER!! The owner of the Nissan told me that there was a car in front of her that tried to back up on the tollway, which caused her to stop suddenly.

My first baby!!

Long story short ... the girl in the Nissan ended up changing her story to the State Trooper saying that their was a car in front of the car that tired to backup and she managed to stop in time. I looked at her like she was crazy but couldn't really say anything because the Trooper already made his ruling.

I ended getting a warning for "failing to control my vehicle", but oddly enough the person driving the Honda didn't received the same warning. The girl in the Nissan received a citation for driving with expired registration.

I drove my damaged car home and contacted my insurance company to explain the entire situation. They were shocked that the person I hit wasn't penalized more harshly.

[Monica Gellar] I KNOW [/Monica Gellar]!!!

After the lengthy call, I had to get the hospital so that I could get an x-ray for my neck to rule out any major injuries. I called and text messaged a friend of mine but he didn't respond. Feeling a bit desperate, I called The Greek.

The Greek is a doctor and I was thinking he could pull some strings to get me an x-ray faster. He became really concerned and decided that he was going to pick me up and take me to the hospital himself. He arrive at my apartment and did his own preliminary exam before making our way to the hospital. I ended up going to Presbyterian Hospital because Parkland Hospital is too scary and Baylor Medical Hospital is in a very scary neighborhood. Being a Highland Park resident has made me soft.

In total, I was in the hospital for 1.5 hours because the ER was empty. My doctor was handsome ... well, I think he was considering I only saw him for about 40 seconds. He looked a bit like Anderson Cooper, but more muscular. He told me I had a strained neck and gave me a prescription for generic Vicondin and muscle relaxer. The Greek took me back home and he wanted to stay over to "monitor" me. I said that was fine, but I am seriously regretting that decision.

Yesterday: I made an appointment to see a claims adjuster through my insurance company to estimate the damage. I received $2000 worth of damage and the earliest estimate for the repairs to be completed is Friday. Luckily, I got the free car rental option with my insurance so I will have something to drive until the repairs are finished.

Most of the day I spend resting at home. I caught up on the shows I missed this past week (Ugly Betty, South Park) and watched a new episode of Law and Order last night. I also watched the DVD extras of The Office - Season 2. I made some taquitos, because what goes best with generic Vicondin ... generic Mexican food. I ended up not needing any pills because I was feeling good. My sister and mom were worried about me taking the medication because they were narcotics.

I guess they think I might become addicted ... like how Donna Martin on 90210 got addicted to pain killers after being in a car accident. Or how Jessie Spano on Saved by the Bell got addicted to caffeine pills when she was studying for exams.

"I'm so excited, I'm so excited, I'm so .... ScArEd!!"

The strongest prescription drug I have taken is Augmentin when I had an ear infection in college. I couldn't even swallow those pills, so I ended crushing them in orange juice. I will not take any prescription or OTC drugs unless it is absolutely necessary.

Today I am feeling fine, and I should be okay to play tennis tomorrow morning. As a precaution, I will only play for an hour or so. I really thought this accident would affect my Houston tournament entry in 2 weeks. I should be all good by then. I am heading to a Pre-Halloween Parade party in the gay-bourhood tonight. I don't have a costume, but I can use the "I was in a car accident" excuse. If I had a costume, I would have like to gone as Ugly Betty...

The bright side of the accident, I got my Mariah Carey whistle register back.
