A Room For Two

I just got an email from someone who is riding down to Houston with me next week.

He was sharing a room with Dr. Rx, but he just found out that Dr. Rx is bringing additional person to share the room. Which is a shock because I've known of the additional person for over a month now, and I am not even sharing a room with them. So it would be three guys in a hotel room that has two queen beds. I have a room with a king sized bed all to myself, and I was asked if I was willing to swap my single bed for a two ... but that is something that I don't want to do.

I know this may sound harsh, but I don't want to share my room. Mainly because I can't sleep in a room (or bed) with someone I am barely know. I have really weird sleeping habits. If I know if someone is in close proximity I will wake up repeatedly. It takes me a while to get used to someone being there before I can sleep soundly.

So what should I do?

I don't want to lie, but I don't want to seem cold either. He doesn't want to share a room with a person he doesn't know. The odd thing is ... I feel the exact same way.

update: I told the person that I will be keeping my single room. Thanks for the advice!

  • It's not harsh, keep your original plans of the single room by yourself.

  • Anyone should understand not being comfortable sleeping in a room with someone they hardly know. Get your own room, never sacrifice your own comfort for someone else's you don't even know.

  • Just tell them straight, I need my own space, hate to be that way, but that's the way it is!
