Weekend of 12/10

I haven’t done a weekend post in a long time …

This Friday my employer gave us a half day in lieu of a holiday party. I had big plans to go see some movies (Black Swan being one of them) but I ended up staying in the house watching Netflix. I watched all of the British series of “A Bit of Fry & Laurie” and loved it.

Saturday I attended the holiday party of my tennis group. I made macaroni and cheese for the party, because everyone loved it last year. I forgot to buy wrapping paper for my gift for the “dirty santa” gift exchange, so I had to improvise. Luckily, I had the comic section of the newspaper laying around, so I used it:

The party was fun and my macaroni and cheese was a big hit again. I got complaints that I didn’t bring more of it, so next year I will bring a bigger pan.

Sunday was spent running errands, watching Netflix, and working on my resume for some possible job opportunities. I am really looking forwarded to my Xmas and New Year vacation time because I really need to spend and entire day sleeping.

I’m in awe of the bow. Using the cartoon section: I would do that – the bow? beyond me.

The bow was a last minute touch. I folded a section of the paper and cut it into long strips to get that fringe-y effect. then I just manually styled it to make it stand up like a bow. Of course, no one cared about the wrapping at the party, just what was inside. The trick was on them because the gift I brought was the gift I received from the holiday party 2 years ago.

I’m so glad to discover that the recycled wrapping paper was not an aberration but instead fundamental to the ethos of the gift. My only difference would have been to have used the gift for the two years before passing it along! Thanks for the bow instructions, I am thinking of making one and using it as a substitute for my hair – which has been thinning.
